A Great Idea For A Play

One of my favourite things about the Edinburgh Fringe is the conversations you have here.

I was sharing a story over drinks when someone said it would make a great play. Cue a director friend of mine calling dibs on a play that didn’t even exist yet. So we got to chatting about how the story could be turned into a play until I was so excited I volunteered to write it.

The play is built around the story of how my bike came to be called Lizzie.

I’m not going to lie; I think it’s a fantastic story, but I am unsure how to turn it into a play.

But in the after-haze of the glow that comes from spending time in and around art and the people who love it, I am certain I can make it happen.

No matter how burnt out I am or how much I question if I will even be able to write another play, Fringe is the answer.

The inspiration and the energy I am filled with throughout Fringe is beautiful.

During the Fringe, anything is possible.

During the Fringe, the ideas flow as liberally as the drinks.

During the Fringe, connections just happen and projects form.

A simple conversation has turned into plans for next year’s production.

It seems so achievable it’s almost like it’s already done.

Future me will have to do the actual work.

Future me will have to slog to make it happen.

But currently, it seems as easy as taking a breath.

It is a great idea for a play.
