End of Summer Trip

Until about a week before it happened, I was fairly certain that this trip wasn’t going to happen.

The Jacobite train was shut down this summer due to safety concerns, so despite having tickets for this week, I was almost certain that it would have to wait till next year. Since we had also planned to go on this trip last year until we had to cancel due to my catching the Vid, it was starting to feel a little cursed.

So, when the train resumed operations, it still felt like the trip would fall through. Despite being assured that the Jacobite would be running and having booked hotels and restaurants, it still didn’t feel real.

But it happened! And it was AWESOME!

We rode the Jacobite train, travelled the Highlands, and the inner Hebrides. We went to Fingals cave, Iona, and Mull. Things that had been on my wishlist of things to do in Scotland since before I moved here.

All Aboard!

Train Snacks!

Can't wait for the journey

Different seats on the way back

On the viaduct on the way back

It was such an amazing day out. Totally worth the year-long wait.

The next day it was off on a normal, more boring train, to Oban where our tour of the inner Hebrides departed.

Hike out to the cave.
Breathtaking.
