Getting Ready For Halloween

Late start this year. I didn’t want to put up my Halloween decorations because my mother was visiting, and she is not the biggest fan of Halloween decorations. At least not the more realistic spooky ones that I put out. And by not a fan, I mean she hates them.

Of course, my mother told me that I could put them out because this is my home and she is “just a guest”. But it felt wrong.

Instead, I just put out my general autumnal decor.

We also had lots of fun looking in charity shops and such to add to the collection as well as going for walks and picking out pine cones and such.

But now is the time.

It is time to Haunt the House.

As with the last two years, I do this in three ways. 1) I upgraded my items from last year to elevate what I have for as little money as possible. 2) I buy new things - I try to source from various places to get that “treasures collected over centuries” vibe. 3) I put away non-seasonal decor so that there is more room to create haunted vignettes all over my flat.

The trick is to create areas where the decor is concentrated so that it seems there is an immense amount of decor. I neither have the storage for, nor the funds, to haunt my house as thoroughly as I would like. However, using this trick, I can make it seem pretty close.

This year I’m planning on finishing up a couple of the specimen/ingredient jars from years prior and adding little details to them to make them look even nicer. I will also print and make some art to sprinkle into my inspo wall.

As far as what I will add - I have a long list of things that I want and things that I want to make.

But first, I will put out what I already have and see what would enhance my collection the most. (And see what I have the storage space to accommodate.

I’ll post pics soon.
