Season of Transition

The Fringe is over, and summer is rapidly coming to an end.

Change is in the air.

It feels a bit like going back to school.

Autumn is right around the corner; my summer friends have all gone home, and it’s time to return to work.

The days are getting shorter, and the nights are starting to cool.

Even with the heat wave giving the UK a last week of summer heat before sweater weather fully sets in, it’s clear that the seasons are changing.

Time to get back to studying Dutch and applying for jobs.

Time to get back to writing so I have a show for next year.

Time to prepare for the colossal amount of writing I have planned in October and November.

Projects that I’ve been ignoring are come due. Plans that seemed ages away are right around the corner.

As sad as I am to say goodbye to the amazing buzz of Edinburgh in summer, I am ready for autumn. I can’t wait to decorate for Halloween, to participate in writing courses, NaNoWriMo, and Thanksgiving.

It’s a weird limbo to be both sad to see a season end and excited to usher in the next season. I’ll try to enjoy the moment as I transition and possibly treat myself to some stationary to honour this back-to-school feeling.
