Something has been really bothering me lately. It’s a small thing, but it really rubs me the wrong way. However, I know that most people won’t care or will think that I’m overly worked up about something.

So I’m just going to write it down and post it here.

Get it off my chest without bugging my friends.

Shouting into the void that is the internet.

So here it goes -

STOP MISUSING THE TERM MID-CENTURY!

Seriously!

The 70s weren’t mid-century

Mid-Century is called that because it was the dominant style in the Western world in the middle (or mid) of the century!

People who call themselves designers online go around calling styles from the 70s mid-century. DESIGNERS! Not everyday people who don’t have any training to know better.

PLEASE PEOPLE - JUST GOOGLE THE TERM IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS!

* deep breath *
