Allyman's Tarot

Over a year ago, I backed this project on Kickstarter, and it has finally arrived!

So over a year ago, Aish sent me a link to what seemed to be the coolest tarot deck ever. I backed the kickstarted right away. Sadly there were printing delays and then problems with international shipping. But they are finally here!

Horrible delays aside, I am excited to have the deck.

This deck comes with a story of the “allyman”, who collects cards from other decks, found items, and even handmade custom cards. Then he gives them away to the person they’re meant for and goes on to collect or make more.

This means the deck has multiples of certain cards but with different art and different meanings. Some of the cards included are unique to this deck. Some of the cards are pulled from other decks (with the creator’s permission), some are drawn from historical decks, and others were made by tarot artists, particularly for this deck.

The thing that excited me the most, and the reason I backed this Kickstarter, is the multiple Deaths.

There are 12 Deaths between the basic deck and the expansion packs (Yes. This deck has expansion packs).

Each of the Deaths has a slightly different meaning to represent different things. Death can mean in a reading.

Death (Stubborn) - Dying due to inactivity. Stubbornly staying where you are to keep something from ending/dying, only for that to be the thing that is killing you.

Death (Rebirth) - An ending/death that represents an opportunity for rebirth. Change so radical it can complexity restart your life.

Death (Fire) - The past has burned away. There is nothing left. You have to move on/change because there is nothing left to salvage.

Death (Blood) - Change that comes from metaphorical blood. Sometimes change hurts.

Death (Motel) - Small death. Little changes. Finding growth and even a new life through small mundane changes.

Death (Dancing) - Be happy and dance on the grave of the past. Don’t just let it go; celebrate its death.

Death (Riding) - A sweeping death. A change that rides into your life suddenly changes everything and is gone before you even know what happened.

Death (Sowing) - Harvest what you’ve learned from the past and let their death be the seed for your future success.

Death (Shovel) - Needing to dig up the past so you can learn a new lesson from it. You weren’t really done, and it’s now time for a post-mortem.

Death (Bunny) - A card about how death is everywhere and how even things that seem lovely or cute will succumb to death and time.

The Mourning Death - Taking the time to acknowledge that change hurts. It’s not bad to feel that pain. It’s ok to mourn for the past.

Smoking Death - something that is satisfying at the moment but ultimately unhealthy for you. Deaths by a thousand (self-inflicted) cuts.
